NHWAS members are invited to take part in the event below in support of the childrens hospice at Watford.

You do not get much more worthwhile causes.
The contest is being organised by Eddie Edwards, who some members will know. Eddie is the wildlife officer for Colne Valley Fisheries Consultative. NHWAS were pleased to agree that our stretch of the Colne can be fished for the event and since Uxbridge Rovers have also agreed to participate, members will be able to fish on the river upstream from the road bridge at Springwell Lane right up to the junction with the canal opposite Tesco. As below, the canal is also available from Batchworth Lock down to Blackjacks Lock.
For the avoidance of doubt, members should note that none of the participating clubs lake fisheries are included in the competition.

We were asked by Antony’s family to put a few words on the members section of the website following his death earlier in the year.

Antony Joseph Byron died with his family around him at St. Luke’s Hospice, Kenton on the 8th September 2018. He had been ill since the beginning of the year and was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma in April. Tony was a long time member of the North Harrow Waltonians fishing club where he enjoyed fishing the lake and in latter years the river. As a teacher by profession his love of nurturing a skill didn’t stop in the classroom which is why he so enjoyed passing on his passion for angling to his three sons and had plans to also take his grandchildren in the very near future. Tony was a strong and dependable man who put his family at the centre of all he did. As a loving husband, father, brother and grandad he will be greatly missed.

Members are asked to be careful around peg 31 on the river as there is a wasps nest (more…)
