The Society is a member of The Angling Trust
The Angling Trust is the representative body for game, coarse and sea anglers in England. Our members support the campaigns and legal action we carry out to protect fish stocks and our programmes to increase the number of anglers fishing for fun and in competitions. We’re fighting for the future of YOUR fishing, but we need YOUR support to do more. If you want to protect your fish and fishing, for now and in future join your representative body today.
NHWAS is also a member of the Colne Valley Fisheries Consultative (CVFC).
The Colne Valley Fisheries Consultative is a membership organisation open to local riparian owners, angling clubs, individual anglers, holders of fishing rights, private and commercial fishery managers, local government and environmental groups and anyone having an interest in aquatic habitats in the Colne Valley catchment. Membership includes the vast majority of angling clubs and fisheries in the Colne catchment. CVFC members offer coarse and game fishing on more than 75 different lakes covering 1000 acres, plus the Grand Union Canal and extensive fisheries on the rivers of the catchment; Rivers Colne, Ver, Gade, Bulbourne, Chess, Misbourne, Frays, Hartsbourne, Tykeswater, Pinn, Colnebrook, Duke of Northumberland & Wraysbury. This amounts to more than 75 miles of river/ canal fishing.
It is estimated that there are approximately 150,000 anglers who regularly fish in the Colne Valley who make a significant contribution to the local economy.
We are also members of the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust
HMWT is one of 47 Trusts across the UK; together we are the biggest voluntary organisation in the country dedicated to protecting the full range of UK species and habitats for the future, with more than 750,000 members and 200,000 acres of wild spaces in our care.
